Monday night

Applied for three positions today — one fellowship, one internship and one job. All of which would be pretty cool. Cross your fingers for me?

Tomorrow I’m prepared to send out a few more and make a phone call or two. Not too much networking to be done from my couch in the Philadelphia suburbs, but I’m doing the best with what I have. I’m considering a move back to D.C. sometime this fall just to make myself more available to potential employers. But, that’s a discussion for another day.

I’m pretty excited because I just found some interesting tumblr blogs to follow from the directories. Now following seven blogs.  Read some about nutrition and fitness, which inspired me to think about my current routine.

Tomorrow is also sleep-in day. I’ve had hard workouts from Thursday to this morning at the gym (interval training, interval training, cycling, cycling, interval training) and this morning I was kind of beat. I was up at 7:30 for my 8:30 class, had a small bowl of cereal with blueberries and soy milk and then practically passed out in front of the television with a glass of water while watching GMA. I was toying with going to back bed but I figured I was up already, had eaten and decked myself in workout attire so it didn’t make much sense to put the pajamas back on. Class was more brutal than usual. Sometimes we need to listen to our bodies when they’re screaming at us. I’m looking forward to sleeping in, having some coffee and reading the news. Maybe if it’s not too hot I’ll go for a powerwalk.

I felt good after the workout but I think I sabotaged myself by skimping on sleep. I didn’t get too much this weekend — and when I’m tired I eat more (trying to fuel myself because I don’t want to go to bed?). So much for working out… pass the ice cream scooper please. And, ugh, I only eat chips when I’m tired. Otherwise they have that processed feel that make my stomach feel like its wrapped in saran wrap. Therefore, tomorrow I sleep in, get back to the daily cover letter grind and hit the gym again on Wednesday.

Tomorrow is also the day I’ll start working on this month’s column [the monthly I write in the local newspaper]. I want to concentrate on the current spending habits of 20 somethings. I’ve got friends living in the city and at home. Some of these friends have jobs, some don’t. But, life seems to be working out for everyone. I’m going read up on some statistics, make up a short survey and beg people to take it. I have some amazing and helpful friends, so I think I’ll get some responses.

More on that later.

I’ll leave you with another Facebook quip like I did in my last post. This was on my wall:

Person A status: The best things in life are unexpected
Person B comment: Herpes?

Que te suenas con los angelitos [something my host mother in Spain used to say to me: dream with the angels]

Madrid’s beautiful Plaza Mayor at night. A picture I took on a trip to Spain in June with my mom
