Weekend update
The professional I cited in my last post contacted me and offered to try to hook me up with a bunch of his media contacts. I love when opportunities pop up when you least expect them. I showed up for the margaritas and met someone willing to go out on such a limb for me. People can be so great.
I can’t help but feel guilty when people that I just met help me like this. All of the career articles say to network, but I always find it difficult because, as a currently unemloyed grad, I have nothing to offer in return. I always ask if I can do anything for the person who offers to help me with my job search.
…A manifestation of my love affair with Spain — mom and I made gazpacho tonight, which was an attempt to mimic the recipe of the amazing homemade gazpacho and old woman gave us on the train from Sevilla to Barcelona. It was the absolute most refreshing remedy for the mid-summer andalusian heat.
Mom has two Spanish cookbooks and a magnet with a gazpacho recipe. We compared all three…and used the magnet. It’s pretty good, but we ran out of tomatoes and we were a little unbalanced with the other veggies. Our perfect pretty good gazpacho had strong cucumber and green pepper undertones. When I have it for lunch tomorrow I’m going to add a little bit of salsa.
Mom and I have a new routine. We take an 8:30 cycling class at the gym Saturday mornings, shower and then head down to a local farmers market. I would like to believe that our gazpacho tasted extra fresh with the farmers market tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers.
