Dreaming at the beach
Beach > first day of school
College was the absolute best time in my life, so far. Four years ago I was sitting in my first class, Understanding Mass Media, sitting in the middle of a small theater and listening to my professor. I really miss it. Freshman year was so carefree. I made friends I’ve grown closer to every year and I met the boyfriend I’ve been with for practically four years. I also sang in the choir, which was in no way anything as amazing as high school choir, but we got to sing for President George W. Bush and his family in a Christmas special attended by Wolf Blitzer, Bill Frist and John Roberts (and his cute little boys). Freshman year also brought the infamous story of going out to karaoke in Dupont Circle and partying with Supreme Court clerks, spending skeezy nights in skeezy clubs and just generally partying 4 nights a week while making dean’s list. Dipping solo cups into trashcans filled high with jungle juice, hanging out in sticky frat house basements, having to sit on various laps in the car on the way to various of campus fraternity parties and not really worrying about how stupid it was. Getting to spend an amazing night sailing on the Potomac River for my first ever Sigma Chi formal (and getting pinned three years later). Two of my best friends and I made a hilarious music video based on a sorority rush song we heard, which I still have saved on my desktop. And, Sunday meant snacks and Greys Anatomy on the honors floor, because my floor always had broken sprinklers or puke in the sink.
I worked hard in college and I’m not looking to do it again. But’s it makes me smile to look back on my freshman year, and school in general. I don’t think I had one horrible experience.
